    All communication, whether with customers or internally, takes place on secure servers located in Iceland, and a backup copy of the last five years’ data is taken. All translations are done in a closed translation program (unless otherwise requested). All documents and communications are immediately destroyed if requested by customers.

    Confidentiality Arrow right

    Icelandic Translations maintains the utmost confidentiality about all communications with customers and material that the company receives, and inquiries that the company receives, whether they lead to a business relationship or not. All of our employees and vendors have signed a confidentiality agreement (non-disclosure agreement).

    Our Products

    Raw MT output

    Our specialized MT machines, trained with tens of millions of strings and termbases of hundreds of thousands of words, will deliver an output that is generally of better quality than from other MT systems. It can be used for internal documentation where accuracy is not paramount.

    Light post-editing

    Our editors will review your text and edit factual errors along with serious grammar errors that affect the meaning. As our editor’s goal is to make as few changes as possible no changes are made to strings that are factually correct. The result is an understandable and correct text, but which is not suited for publication.

    Full post-editing

    Our editors will review your text and, in addition to fixing factual errors, will correct grammar errors and ensure consistent terminology. The result is a factually and grammatically correct text with adaptations in line with the cultural context of the target language, but which might in some places sound awkward.

    Human translation (translation only)

    Our translators will translate your text without the use of MT to get a free-flowing and factually correct text. After translation the translator reviews his own work. The result is a text with correct terminology and style that suits its purpose. This service is recommended for client-facing text.

    Translation and review

    After translation the text is sent to another member of our team who reviews it and corrects any possible errors not spotted by the translator, no matter whether having to do with grammar or style. The result is an error-free and easily understandable text. This service is recommended for highly visible text, such as one to be published.

    Review only

    Our highly experienced reviewers can go over third-party text and correct all errors found. The time this takes varies greatly according to the quality of the text to be reviewed and might in rarer instances even exceed the time it would take to translate the text.
